Pulaski Radio Show Celebrates Youth

Pulaski Radio Show Highlights Youth
Posted on 02/25/2019
Last Saturday, the Pulaski Radio Show once again held its monthly display of talent, antics, and good music. The show was packed with content from some talented performers, but this show was a little bit different.

Youth involvement is a huge part of what allows the arts to continue to grow, because without young people taking an interest art would stagnate and innovation would slow down. That’s why this show was dedicated to the youth of Pulaski County, to show that the arts are alive and well amongst the young in our community.

Gate 10 was the band chosen for this month’s show, a gospel, country and bluegrass mashup band. Made up almost entirely of young people, they put on a wonderful performance, giving the event some tunes to tap your foot to.

Along with Gate 10, there were several other performances included in the activities. Jeff McCoy and his drama students from Pulaski County High School performed the two classic skits “Ask Hyacinth and Fern” and Inside Out, Right Side Up Mystery Theatre”. The Blue Ridge Fudge Lady’s daughter was also present, giving us a look into how her mother handles things at her shop on Washington Avenue. And last but not least, John White was present to tell the audience about life growing up in the Appalachians.

Of course, all the other regular festivities were there as well; prizes were given out to audience participants, and a raffle was held for one lucky winner. All in all, the Radio Show always promises to have something for everyone to enjoy, and we’re already looking forward to next month’s edition!
