There aren’t many better occasions to get to know someone than over a cup of coffee. So you could say that having coffee with a police chief is the best way to get to know your town.
This is the big reason Pulaski’s chief of police, Gary Roche, hosts a Coffee with the Chief event on the first Wednesday of every month. It gives him a chance to meet with the citizens of Pulaski, and gives them a chance to talk about anything and everything with the chief.
Police Chief Roche filled me in on why he loves the event. “It’s a relaxed atmosphere where people can come and it gives them a chance to discuss anything they’d like with me. More often than not, we talk about things that aren’t even related to police work.”
And that’s the core goal of the meeting; for Pulaski’s residents to feel more than just a passing connection. When people feel a more personal link to their police department, it strengthens the bond of the community to them. And our officers do much more than carry out law enforcement. They love this community, and they take any chance they can to get to know the people they’re protecting.
So if you’re not busy this Wednesday, come to The Coffee Grinder at 8:00 a.m. to grab a drink and chat with the chief. After all, it’s free!
