Lip Sync Battles may be a fairly new phenomenon to a lot of people; karaoke is common now, but lip syncing? It’s a term long used to describe pop stars who would play tracks of their own music at concerts instead of actually singing themselves. Nowadays, it’s more of a parody on karaoke, in that you’re singing along to your favorite songs but it’s not really you singing; you just mouth the words out. The good news is that lip syncing is very entertaining when done intentionally, and lip sync events are starting to gain in popularity. Enter the Pulaski Lip Sync Battle.
This Friday evening at 7 p.m., several of Pulaski’s stars and celebrities will gather at the Pulaski Theatre to put on a show the town has never seen before. Plenty of people will be there, including the mayor and town manager, who are raring for a chance to show off their lyrical prowess. Aside from them, there will be several other folks involved that you might recognize from around the town.
The best part about the event is that participating at all will help support the Pulaski YMCA and any projects they currently have in the works. Winners will be selected by audience members voting for their favorites with money, with all money going towards supporting the Y.
So if you enjoy the TV show, you’d probably enjoy some lip syncing in person, too. And if supporting the local Y sounds like a cause you’d like to get behind, this is the show for you. We hope to see you there on Friday!
