Mental health and addiction are both prominent issues anywhere you look, whether it be a small town or somewhere like Roanoke or Richmond. Depression and other mental illnesses don’t discriminate; they can hit anyone at any time, and the same is true when it comes to addiction. Some may be more prone to developing these particular afflictions, but anyone can be affected.
LewisGale Hospital Pulaski is leading the charge on these issues in Pulaski with the opening of their new Behavioral Health Unit. The new unit will focus on the issues mentioned above, targeting those individuals who would best benefit from a short-term stay to better evaluate their needs on a case-by-case basis.
As LewisGale puts the finishing touches on their new facility, they look forward to the added ability to assist residents in Pulaski and the New River Valley. One huge benefit of the new unit is accessibility. A large portion of people seeking treatment have previously had to travel outside of our area; there simply haven’t been enough resources in place at local hospitals and healthcare providers to tackle these issues. In the future, the reduced amount of travel time will greatly encourage individuals to seek the help they need, closer to home.
The Town of Pulaski is committed to ensuring the safety, health and well-being of our residents, and we are incredibly proud to call LewisGale Pulaski an invaluable component in realizing these goals.
