The Pulaski Yankees are working hard to prepare for the upcoming 2019 season, with their first game happening in Johnson City on June 18th. Their first home game will be on April 21st against Bluefield. To generate some more hype for the fast approaching season, the Pulaski Yankees have partnered with the Town of Pulaski to host the first ever Pulaski Yankees 5K Race.
The Pulaski Yankees 5K will take place on June 1st, beginning in Calfee Park and winding throughout downtown Pulaski and a few of the town running trails. If anything like the recently held Color Me Cameron 5K, the trail should be a fair challenge as well as giving participants an enjoyable look at our town.
Following the run, participants and the general public will be able to enjoy a ballpark play day that will last from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will include family-friendly activities and tours of the newly renovated areas of Calfee Park. If you’re a season ticket holder you’ll also be able to pick up your tickets for the 2019 season at the event.
The event promises to be a lot of fun according to Pulaski Yankees General Manager Betsy Haugh. “We’re very much looking forward to this 5K and ballpark play day. This will be our first big event to kick off the 2019 season and we think the community will really enjoy this day at the ballpark.”
The Pulaski Yankees 5K will be sponsored by the Blue Ridge Fudge Lady, Gay and Neel, Inc., LewisGale Pulaski, and Run About Sports. Proceeds from the event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia, an organization centered on the success of children in Southwest Virginia.
If you’d like to register for the run, you can sign up at the
Pulaski Yankees website or in person at the
Pulaski Yankees office at Calfee Park. Cost of registration is $25 and includes a race t-shirt and a ticket to the Pulaski Yankees home game on June 23rd. To be guaranteed a shirt, you must register by May 15th; registration fees will increase by $5 on the day of the event.
