Main Street will be opened to two way traffic this morning. Striping and arrows have been completed, 4 way stop signs are installed. Reminder to obey the 4 way stop at the intersection of W. Main and Washington.

Crews on Randolph Ave will be replacing water lines starting on 10th Street all the way to town limits, which means water will be shut off Thursday (04/06/23) morning beginning at 8am. Sorry for the short notice and any inconvenience.

Norwood Development will begin milling and paving Randolph Ave on Monday, April 3rd. Paving will be from Randolph & 6th up to corporate limits where Randolph Ave becomes Old Robinson Tract Rd. This milling and paving project is being paid for by a grant from VDOT.

The West Main project will not be completed for about another 2 weeks. There are 5 connections that must still be accomplished, including the courthouse, two of which require installation of vaults that have not been received. Unfortunately, the contractor, while hoping to be complete by the end of March, has a contract that gives him 150 days or until the end of April to complete.

Trash needs to be set out by 6:00 am the morning of pickup day: Cans shall not be placed out any earlier that 4:30 pm the day before (November – March) and no earlier than 7:00 pm (April – October)

Thank you to all who are adhering to the new traffic patterns. Today, March 22, the traffic lights on 3rd and Washington have been bagged. E. Main traffic is now being directed into a single lane heading east. A stop sign has been installed at the intersection of East Main and Duncan Ave as there is traffic heading east on 3rd street that will also stop at the intersection of E. Main and 3rd. A stop bar will also require drivers wanting to turn onto Duncan from East Main traveling west to stop before turning left onto Duncan.

3rd Street is now painted for 2-way traffic. Please adhere to the new traffic pattern.

Change of garbage collection day: GFL will collect Lafayette Ave on Mondays instead of Wednesdays

In case you have not noticed, changes for upcoming 2 way traffic on 3rd Street are happening now! Crews are working to grind all old lines and traffic arrows as well as painting new lines for implementation of 2 way traffic. Some of the changes are shown here: At the “Y” intersection of 3rd St, Main St and Duncan Ave, Route 99 coming into town now has arrows in the right lane to indicate bearing that direction for 3rd Street, as well as the left lane now will require a Stop for the left turn onto Duncan Ave. There is also a Stop sign at that intersection coming from East Main Street toward Rt 99 in place. Please follow the new signage. Notice of implantation of 2 way traffic on 3rd Street will occur early next week.

Monday, March 13, 2023 a contractor will begin removing pavement markings in preparation for stripping 3rd Street for two-way traffic within the next two weeks. The exact date for implementation of two-way traffic on 3rd Street will be announced in the near future.

Reminder: Monday, February 27, 2023, the left lane on 3rd street will be closed off so traffic traveling west will only be able to travel in the right lane. One lane travel will continue to the intersection of 3rd and Washington. At the intersection of 3rd and Washington, the left turn lane will not be accessible and motorists wishing to turn left will do so from the right/ straight through the lane. The intersection at Washington and 3rd is a four way stop intersection. Please adhere to the stop requirement.

Effective Monday, February 13, 2023, the traffic lights that have been flashing at the intersection of West Main and Washington and West Main and Jefferson will be bagged. Four way stop signs have been at these locations for several weeks and motorists should stop at these intersections even while Main Street is closed.

Starting in November 2021, the Council and Town staff have communicated to the PSA their concerns regarding service to our residents, particularly the long delays in the removal of bulk items and customer complaint calls. These service issues and the Town having to respond to these issues led the Town Manager to notify the PSA in January 2022 that the Town would discontinue billing for PSA trash collection on June, 1, 2022, making it clear to residents the agency responsible for trash collection.

This has been a challenging week for everyone, with the beginning of a new year and a new trash service for residents of the Town. It has been a learning experience for all of us as something new always is, and not everything happened as was planned. GFL has worked hard to put the appropriate containers in the correct locations, but it was not always executed correctly the first time. This has meant that some containers were delivered after the original planned service day.

Pulaski Police Department will resume normal speed enforcement activities in all areas of the town.

Badger Water Metering is a sole source due to the proprietary elements of the radio read system and equipment that are already in service. New contract price dated October 27, 2022. This will be posted on the Department of General Services' central electronic procurement website as stated in the Virginia Code.

The Planning Commission’s public hearing for MSRC II (Mainspring Recovery Centers) scheduled for October 11, 2022 has been POSTPONED.

The Town of Pulaski is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the new Mountain Bike Park on Wednesday, October 12th at NOON.

The Town Council voted on September 6th to change the speed limit to 35 mph throughout the town.

The PSA has sent letters to its commercial customers in town advising those businesses to contact the town for the names of haulers.

There have been a number of comments about the decision to eliminate traffic lights at Randolph and East Main/Corbin Harmon Drive that deserve a response.

The traffic light at the intersection of Randolph Ave and West Main Street has been bagged and a two-way stop installed. Please be aware of and follow the new stop signs on West Main and Harmon Corbin Drive.

Town of Pulaski Personal Property Tax Bills for 2022 have been mailed. They are due Monday October 17, 2022. Failure to receive a bill does not relieve the taxpayer of any additional charges of penalty or interest that will accrue under the law for failure to pay the tax bill.

The Pulaski Fire Department will host its 74th annual Pulaski Fire Department Fire Prevention Parade on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 7 p.m. The parade will be on East Main Street staring in front of Dawg House and heading west, then backwards on Mainstreet all the day to Jefferson Ave where the parade will end.
